Don't let ƒ break path names — at Version 2

Reported by: Iritscen Owned by: Christian
Priority: major Component: AEI2

Description (last modified by Iritscen)

Oni's standard Mac installation folder is named "Oni ƒ". We encourage players to remove the 'ƒ', but there's always going to be some who don't know better, and simply copy the folder from the CD-ROM and try to work with it that way.

See here for an example of what happens if someone tries to run the AEI with such a path.

Upon further consideration (and chatting with Alloc), that user might have had other unrelated issues with his AE installation. However, the lack of the "ƒ" in the paths coming back in Java's errors is still troubling me. Please consider whether this might be a problem with certain Java installations, or maybe v7 as a whole.

Okay, after various testing and research, we confirmed that this bug did indeed result from a combination of (1) OS X, (2) Java 7, and (3) special characters. I have implemented a slightly kludgy but effective solution into Run AE Installer, which is the AppleScript that launches the AEI and the AEI Updater.
